Mastopexy/Breast Lift

Breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts.  Factors such as pregnancy, nursing, weight change, aging and gravity produce changes in the appearance of a woman's breasts.  This operation can also reduce the size of the areola.  Sometimes, it is necessary to insert breast implants in conjunction with mastopexy to increase both firmness and size.  There are a variety of different techniques along with surgical approaches for this procedure.  Your preferences, anatomy and your surgeon's recommendation will determine the technique and approach.

Pain Level:
          Mild to Moderate

Expense:
          A price quote detailing fees for the facility, anesthesia and surgeon will be given at the consultation appointment.

Hospital Time:
          The procedure takes 1-3 hours.  You will either go home the same day or stay overnight in the hospital depending on your individual needs.

Recovery:
          Sutures come out within 7 - 10 days. There are occasionally another set of sutures that are removed at 3 weeks post-op.  Return to non strenuous work in 1 - 3 weeks.  Return to strenuous activities in 6 - 8 weeks.  Most swelling, bruising and soreness subside within 6 months.  The scar will continue to fade for up to 2 years.
         

Breast Augmentation/Breast Enlargement

Breast Augmentation is a surgical procedure performed to enlarge the breasts by inserting a breast implant either behind the breast tissue, or partially or completely under the chest muscles.  Incisions are made to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible and are usually under the breast. The method of implant selection and size, along with surgical approach for inserting and positioning breast implants, will depend on your preferences, your anatomy and your surgeon's recommendation.

Pain Level:
          Mild to Moderate

          A price quote detailing fees for the facility, anesthesia and surgeon will be given at the consultation.

Hospital Time:
          The procedure takes 1-2 hours.  You will either go home the same day or stay overnight in the hospital depending on your individual needs.

Recovery:
          Sutures are normally removed between 9-11 days (unless dissolvable).  Return to non strenuous work within 3-7 days.  Most swelling, bruising and soreness is gone within 6-8 weeks.  Return to strenuous activities in 8 weeks.  Final bra size can be determined within 10-12 weeks.  The scar will continue to fade for up to 2 years.
